Yugi Wig Tutorial by Kyokyogirl Yugi Wig Tutorial by Kyokyogirl
My attempt at describing how I made my Yugi wig. I took inspiration from this tutorial [link] to make the spikes.

Making this wig was incredibly nerve wracking as I was almost making it up as I went along and I was convinced it would be a disaster ^^;

Try searching the Cosplay.com forums. Someone on there has probably made one and left some tips on there.

how much sewing skill is required to do this exactly?  Also do you think that it is possible to use hair extensions for this?

There's only basic hand sewing in this, not high level just time consuming. If I were to make this wig again I'd probably do it differently.
Essentially you can use any kind of wig hair for this, the hard part is getting all the hair to sit and stay where you want it.

Could this work for Yami Yugi too? ^^

Yes, it wouldn't require much modification. Which would mainly require altering the 'fringe' and adding the yellow 'bolts' onto the spikes. :)

I'm a little curious about this, I followed a tutorial :iconmalindachan: to make Yami's wig and she left out so many instructions, I'm wondering how you did the whole sewing on the newspaper thing ^^;

A few hand stitches were all that was needed to secure the cones to the wig. Just attaching the newspaper to wherever there was a part of the cap to sew it to.

And you did the old fashion way of sewing? Like not with a machine ^^ sorry for all the questions ^^

Lol yeah. Just sewn by hand, nothing fancy. And not a problem, I don't mind answering questions :)

Okay ^^ and how did you bend back the cones? I saw that you cut off the tip but I'm still confused ^^;

Yes I cut off the tip and trimmed the cut edge at an angle. So when you tape it back on it sits at an angle. Looks more 'natural' XD

May I ask where you got your black base wig from?

:D I can't remember where I got it, but it's just a basic 22" (I think?) straight black wig with bangs.

This is going to be so handy. Your wig is really the best wig for this character that I have ever seen. It's not wavy and weird looking, there's the right amount of each color, it doesn't look big and cartoon-like (ironic that I have a complaint against that xD). It looks as natural as his hair can look. It's, amazing.

Thank you! 'Natural' was what I was going for. I would actually like to make a new wig for Yugi as I learned so much from making this one that I feel I could do much better.

You achieved natural so well, something I have never seen anyone Cosplaying as him do. It looks VERY good, my sister and I will be using this to help us since we're Cosplaying Yu-Gi-Oh next year. You explained it all so very well and it looks PERFECT. If you do make a new wig, let me know so I can see it :3

Oh hahahaha, we haven't made the wig yet, I apologize if I made it sound like we had! We ARE gonna work on it probably before this Halloween to make sure we have more than enough time. The next Convention will be in May, but we're sorta hoping to wear these costumes to an Asian Festival next February. But of course, when we DO make it we'll give you a link because it will be your tutorial that will be helping us <3

Well I'll be keeping my eyes open for that ;)

For the bangs, what kind of glue did you use to get the hair to stick to it. My friend and I are attempting to make wigs, but we can't get the hair to stick to the fabric.

Ordinary white craft glue, and plenty of it. I also used a hair dryer to speed up the drying.
